On 24 February 2016, the UK Export Finance agency announced in a press release that the UK Transport Minister had agreed to provide 300 million USD during his visit to Burma. The financing would cover the purchase of UK exports in the area of transport infrastructure sector.
The Minister was cited saying "I was delighted to represent the UK in (...) Burma, showcasing the government's massive investment in UK transport infrastructure while promoting our expertise to an international market."
A state measure in the GTA database is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which its implementation affects the extent of discrimination against foreign commercial interests. On this metric, the state aid proposed here is discriminatory.
According to a media report (cf. Sources), UKEF provides loans under the condition that at least 25% of the loan is targeted to support British jobs.
