Export tax

On 11 January 2012, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry reduced the Minimum Export Price (MEP) on all onions except Bangalore rose and Krishnapuram onions from USD 250 per metric ton to USD 150 per metric ton and on Bangalore rose and Krishnapuram onions from USD 300 to USD 250 per metric ton.

The MEP on all onions except Bangalore rose and Krishnapuram was reduced again on 15 February 2012, while the MEP on the latter remained valid until May 2012 when the minimum export price on onions was temporarily banned (see related measure).
