Internal taxation of imports

 On 9 November 2015, the Indonesian government issued regulation 81/2015 exempting the imports of several "Strategic Goods" from the value-added tax. The products mentioned in art. 1(1) of the regulation were:

  • plant and machinery equipment
  • goods directly related to the fishing sector
  • raw hides and non-tanned skins
  • selected cattle
  • seedlings and seeds used in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery
  • fodder excluding pet food
  • feed materials used in the manufacture of animal feed and fish feed
  • silver granules and silver bars used for the production of silver
  • construction materials used for subsidised housing units.

The regulation came into force 60 days after its issuance, i.e. on 8 January 2016.
The list of affected trading partners is based on 2014 trade volumes.
