Import tariff

In a proclamation published in the Federal Register (Vol. 80 No. 249) on December 29, 2015 President Obama utilized authority granted to him by Congress in the Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities and Accountability Act of 2015 to reduce tariffs on environmental goods. The tariff reductions stem from commitments made in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation group in 2012 and reaffirmed in 2015. More specifically, the reductions that take effect on January 1, 2016 are as follows:

  • Reduce the tariff on assembled flooring panels, multilayer, other than having a face play more than 6mm in thickness, other than unidirectional bamboo (HTS item 4418.72.95) from 8% to 5%.
  • Reduce the tariff on condensers for steam or other vapor power units (8404.20.00) from 5.6% to 5%.
  • Reduce the tariff on part for other steam and vapor turbines (8406.90.20, 8406.90.30, 8406.90.40 and 8406.90.45) from 6.7% to 5%.
