According to the declaration of the Ministry of Commerce dated 13 September 2009 the Iranian government has increased the import tariff on rice. The Commerical Benefit Tax (CBT) has increased from 21% to 41% of the cost insurance freight (CIF) value of the imported rice. Moreover, importers must pay 4% for the entry duties and 3% for VAT which results in a total tax of nearly 50% of the CIF value of imported rice.
UN comtrade statistics are not available for Iran. Hence no affected trading partners could be enumerated.
