Anti-dumping

On July 7, 2008, the Mexican Ministry of Economy decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on imports of carbon steel pipes with straight longitudinal seam (thickness between 0.562 and 1 inch, i.e. between 14.3 and 25.4 mm; outer diameter between 16 and 48 inches, i.e. between 406.4 and 1219.2 mm) from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code: 7305.1101.

The complaint was lodged on November 16, 2007 by Tubacero, S.A. de C.V.

The investigation started on the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Journal of the Federation, i.e. on July 19, 2008.

On May 13, 2009, the Mexican authorities decided to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of the above-mentioned products originating in the UK, limited to the exports of the company Corus UK Limited. The rate of the duty is 8.42%. This provisional anti-dumping duty entered into force on the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Journal of the Federation, i.e. on May 27, 2009.

On December 23, 2009, the Mexican authorities decided to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of the above-mentioned carbon steel pipes originating in the UK. The rate of the duty is 5.91%. This definitive anti-dumping duty entered into force on the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Journal of the Federation, i.e. on January 6, 2010.

 

On November 21, 2014, the Mexican Ministry of Economy decided to initiate a sunset review of the above-mentioned anti-dumping duty. This follows the application lodged on November 6, 2014 by Tubacero, S. de R.L. de C.V. The review started on the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Journal of the Federation, i.e. on December 5, 2014.
