Import tariff

 On 23 August 2014, Sri Lanka increased the Special Commodity Levy on potatoes and Big onions. The levy on potatoes was increased from Rs. 15 to Rs. 40 per kg and on Big onions from Rs. 25 to Rs. 35 per kg.
 
The levy on onions was last increased on 12 August 2014 and that on potatoes was increased on 15 August 2014. The levy was increased to Rs. 50 per kg on Big Onions on 2 December 2014 and on Potatoes on 15 February 2015 (see related measures).
 
The Special Commodity Levy is a composite duty on the product and no other tax, duty, cess etc. is applicable on the said product while the levy is valid.
