Import tariff

 On 12 August 2014, Sri Lanka increased the Special Commodity Levy on Big onions from Rs. 10 per kg to Rs 25 per kg for 4 months. Also with this notification, the reduced levy of Rs. 5 per kg on red onions initially imposed on 21 November 2013 was extended for another 4 months.
 
The Levy on big onions was further increased to Rs.35 per kg on 23 August 2014 (See related measure).
 
The Special Commodity Levy is a composite duty on the product and no other tax, duty, cess etc. is applicable on the said product while the levy is valid.
