Import tariff

On 27 February 2009, the South African Revenue Service issued Notice no. 197 exempting the import tariff on portable toilets of plastics, classifiable under 3922.90.10.

Previously, portable toilets were classified under 3922.90 and had a tariff schedule of 20% for all countries in general, 10% for EU states, 17.6% for EFTA member states, and free of duty for members of the Southern African Development Community.

The duty reduction was requested by Jurgens Ci (Pty) Ltd. to the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa.

Affected trading partners
The GTA retrieves its data on affected trading partners from UN Comtrade. However, for the year 2008, the database was not able to provide the affected trading partners for Botswana, Swaziland, and Lesotho.
