 In October 2015, the government of Australia initiated a new anti-dumping investigation and a definitive duty was imposed in September 2016. In December 2020, a sunset review was initiated.

Anti-dumping

On November 10th, 2015, the Commissioner of the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission initiated an anti-dumping investigation on chromium plated circular solid steel bars (circular cross section, made from alloy or non-alloy steel bar, chrome plating of any thickness, lengths not greater than 8m, diameters in the range from 18mm to 170mm), also known as chrome bars, from Italy and Romania (Anti-dumping Notice No. 2015/130, 10.11.2015).
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 7215.9000, 7215.5090, 7222.3000, 7228.3010, 7228.6010 and 7228.6090.
The complaint was lodged on October 16th, 2015 by Milltech Pty Ltd.

On 3 March 2016, the Commissioner of the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission removed products classified under HS code 7222.3000 from the investigation.
 
On 24 March 2016, the Commissioner of the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission imposed provisional anti-dumping duties on imports of chrome bars from Romania (Anti-dumping Notice No. 2016/28). The rate of the duty imposed on imports from Romania ranges between 22.4% and 78.2% depending on the exporting company. There is no duty applied on imports from Italy.

On 7 September 2016, the Commissioner of the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of chrome bars from Romania (Anti-dumping Notice No. 2016/28). The rate of the duty imposed on imports from Romania ranges between 22.4% and 78.2% depending on the exporting company.

On 2 December 2020, the Australian authorities initiated a sunset review of the definitive duty imposed on imports of chrome bars from Romania. The investigation follows the application lodged on 30 October 2020 by Milltech.
