Import tariff

On 4 December 2014, the Central American Common Market (CACM) via Resolución No. 357-2014 (COMIECO-LXX) announced the elimination of the tariff on imports of : 1) boards, sheets, panels, tiles and similar articles not ornamented faced or reinforced with paper or paperboard only (HS 6809.11.00); and 2) certain mountings, fittings and similar articles suitable for buildings (HS 8302.41.11). 
The members of the Central American Common Market (CACM) set different implementation dates in terms of this Resolution. Specifically,the implementation dates by CACM's members (in terms of Resolución No. 357-2014 COMIECO-LXX) are as follows:

  • El Salvador: 16 December 2014,
  • Guatemala: 31 December 2014,
  • Nicaragua: 20 March 2015,
  • Costa Rica: 22 May 2015,
  • Panama: Panama was given a wavier on this measure,
  • Honduras: No official information are made available.

 The latter two countries were thus excluded from the list of implementing jurisdictions.
