Anti-dumping

On August 28th, 2014, the Indian Directorate General of Anti-dumping & Allied Duties, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of gliclazide, chemical name being 1-(Hexahydrocyclopenta (c) pyrrol-2 (1H)-yl)-3-{(4-methylphenyl) sulfonyl} urea, from China.
The product subject to investigation is classified under the following HS code: 2942.0090. It has been claimed by the petitioner that subject goods are also being imported under the following HS codes: 2911.0090, 2912.1990, 2921.5990, 2924.1900, 2927.0090, 2930.9099, 2932.9900, 2933.1990, 2933.5990, 2933.9900, 2934.9900, 2935.0090, 2937.1900, 2941.9011, 2941.9090, 2942.0011, 2942.0090, 3822.0011 and 3822.0019.
This investigation follows the application lodged by M/s Bal Pharma Ltd., a domestic producer of the subject good.

On August 28th, 2015, the Indian authorities extended the time for completing the investigation up to November 27th, 2015.
 
On 20 October 2015, the Indian Directorate General of anti-dumping & allied duties, Ministry of Commerce, issued its final findings and recommended the imposition of a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of gliclazide originating in or exported from China.
On 8 December 2015, the Indian Ministry of Finance issued the Customs Notification imposing this definitive anti-dumping duty (Notification No. 59/2015-Customs (ADD), 08.12.2015). The amount of the duty imposed on imports originating in or exported from China is between USD 18.26 and USD 31.22 per kg depending on the company. This definitive duty is effective for a period of five years.
