Anti-dumping

On October 13th, 2015, the Indian Directorate General of Anti-dumping & Allied Duties, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of glazed/unglazed porcelain/vitrified tiles in polished or unpolished finish with less than 3% water absorption from China.
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code subheadings: 6907, 6908 and 6914.
This investigation follows the application lodged by the Gujarat Granito Manufacturers Association and the Sabarkantha District Ceramic Association, on behalf of domestic producers of the subject goods.
 
On 11 March 2016, the Indian Directorate General of anti-dumping & allied duties, Ministry of Commerce, issued its preliminary findings and recommended the imposition of a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of the subject goods originating in or exported from China.

On 29 March 2016, the Indian Ministry of Finance issued the Customs Notification imposing this provisional anti-dumping duty (Notification No. 12/2016-Customs (ADD), 29.03.2016). The amount of the duty imposed on imports originating in or exported from China is USD 1.37 per square meter. This provisional duty is effective for a period of six months.

On 14 June 2017, the Indian Ministry of Finance imposed a definitive antidumping duty on the subject good from China. The rate of duty is between USD 0.28 and 1.87 per square meter. The duty is in force for a period of five years from the date of imposition of provisional duties, i.e. from 29 March 2016.
