Export tax

On 4 October 2015 the Egyptian Government passed a ruling which replaced an export ban on rice with an export duty. According to decree no. 708 of year the 2015, the customs will charge 2000 EGP/255 USD per ton rice (with HS Code 1006.30, semi milled or wholly milled rice) being exported from Egypt.
As a further and existing condtion, the payment of the duty has to be transacted in a foreign currency and transferred to a bank active inside Egypt.
The duty shall be in force for 6 months.
