Labour market access

On July 26, 2010 the UK Border Agency announced that English language tests will be compulsory for non-European migrants applying to come to the UK to join or marry their settled partner from 29 November 2010. On August 16, 2010 the list ofapproved providers of English language tests has been published. The tests are compusory for people willing to join their partner of British nationality or settled in the UK. The passing level of the test is however said to be relatively low (A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference).
