ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On 10 December 2009, the Korean Ministry of Labor implemented new regulations concerning the job transfer of foreign workers.
Under the new rules, Korean companies may continuosly employ foreign nationals for up to 5 years. Previously, foreign workers had to leave the country for at least one month after 3 years before they could be re-employed.
The new regulations also relax the requirements for successful job application of a foreign worker. In order not to lose his work permit, an unemployed foreign worker previously had to find a new position within 2 months. This period has now been extended to 3 months.
