No On 4 May 2016, the European Commission approved state aid for the expansion of the Rostock overseas port.
Out of the total costs of 17.3 million EUR, 13.6 million EUR will be provided by the Land Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
According to the Commission, "the public funding was provided in form of a grant. A grant is a non-refundable financial instrument which bears no financing cost. At market terms, such a financing instrument would not have been available to the beneficiary. The public financing, therefore, conferred an economic advantage on the beneficiary".
A state measure in the GTA database is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which its implementation affects the extent of discrimination against foreign commercial interests. On this metric, the state aid proposed here is discriminatory.
