On 18 February 2010, Christian Estrosi, French Industry Minister, asked the management of Philips to restart the dialogue with the HR representatives. He added that the situation requires an attitude to find a plan to save jobs. Each worker should find a fixed employment corresponding to his qualification.
Reorganising the company, Philips has previously announced to close the plant in Dreux.
The impact of this state pressure is likely to discriminate against foreign commercial interests as Philips is likely to have transferred or consolidated activities in its subsidiaries abroad. Foreign interests harmed by this state measure are juristictions where Philips has established subsidaries.
