On 12 May 2015, the Australian government announced in its 2015-16 budget review that it was planning to introduce the taxation for working holiday makers.
If introduced, the taxation would come into force on 1 July 2016 with the lowest income tax rate currently at 32%. Currently, working holiday makers do not need to pay taxes for annual incomes up to 18'000 AUD.
