On March 8, 2016 the Government of Canada announced a 2016 Immigration Levels Plan that foresees significant reductions in the numbers of immigrants permitted entry under economic programs. The target for total economic immigration is 160,600 persons, or 11.4% below the 2015 target of 181,300 persons. This is offset by increases in the three other categories (i.e., family, refugee, and humanitarian), such that the total 2016 target of 300,000 persons represents a 7.4% increase over the total 2015 target of 279,200.
The list of affected jurisdictions is based on the inflow of permanent residents in 2013, as published by the Canadian government
