FDI: Entry and ownership rule
The government of Argentina enacted Law 26737 on 27 December 2011. Via this Law, Argentina restricted the purchase of Argentine land by foreigners. Specifically, the government of Argentina limited foreign ownership of rural lands to 15% and the maximum land extension to be held by a single foreigner to 1,000 hectares at the so-called "core zone".
In addition, those foreigners with residence in Argentina, married to Argentine citizens or with Argentine children were exempted from these restrictions. Lastly, a national registry of rural lands was to be established within 6 months after the approval of the law, and foreign right-holders would have to register their properties accordingly.
