On 28 September 2015, the Indonesian Ministry of Trade issued regulation 72/M-DAG/PER/9/2015 amending initial regulation 14/M-DAG/PER/3/2007. With the latest changes, importers will be no longer be required to obtain a Letter of Goods Registration ("SPB") from the Ministry of Trade. The license was previously needed to be attached to each notification of goods imports.
However, importers will still be required to obtain an Importer Registration Number (NPB), issued after passing the Indonesian National Standards ("SNI"). The amendment come into force one month after its announcement, i.e. on 28 October 2015. It was part of the reform package announced by the Indonesian president on 9 September 2015 (cf. Related Measures).
