NoOn 2 March 2018, the European Commission issued Regulation No. 2018/310, decreasing the import duty on maize, sorghum and rye from EUR 5.61 (USD 6.91) per tonne to EUR 0.56 (USD 0.69) per tonne. The products subject to import duties are classified under HS code subheadings 1002.10.00, 1002.90.00, 1005.10.90, 1005.90.00, 1007.10.90 and 1007.90.00. Reductions are available for specified ports of unloading.
The import duty is imposed following the implementation of a flexible mechanism for import tariffs on grain imports (wheat, rye, maize and sorghum) in August 2010, see related state act.
On the following day, the European Commission eliminated the import tariff on the subject good, see related state act.
