Export quota

On 2 April 2020, the Kazakh agriculture minister introduced  export quotas concerning the following agricultural products, until 1 September 2020, to replace the existing export ban:

  • carrots, turnips, beetroot
  • cabbages
  • wheat and rye flour.

Vendors applying for export quotas need to sell a set amount of reserves at the internal market at a fixed price in order to qualify for an export quota. The website of the agriculture ministry stated the traders were obliged to sell 30% of their exported volumes on the internal market.

The announced measures have been taken to ensure a stable supply of foods and products under the state of emergency announced as a result of COVID-19 and enter into force on 2 April 2020.
