ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYYes
On 26 March 2020, the Indonesian Ministry of Trade issued regulation 31/2020 banning the export of ethyl alcohol. In the preamble, it is stated that following WHO's classification of the COVID-19 spread as a pandemic, the Indonesian government "needs to take steps to protect public health and prevent further spread of the Coronavirus throughout the territory of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia" (own translation).
The regulation 31/2020 is amendment to previous regulation 23/2020 banning the export of masks, antiseptics and medical garments (see Related State Acts).
The regulation came into force on 27 March 2020 and will last until 30 June 2020.
On 1 April 2020, the Ministry issued amendment 34/2020 allowing for potential exemptions from the export ban (see Related State Acts). As this amendment does not fully remove the export ban, this intervention continues to be classified as implemented.
