Import tariff

On 14 June 2019, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) has adopted Notice 924 increasing the import duty on wheat and wheaten flour from ZAR 67.51 c/kg (approx. USD 0.046) and ZAR 101.26 c/kg (approx. USD 0.068) to ZAR 95.8 c/kg (approx. USD 0.065) and ZAR 143.69 c/kg (approx. USD 0.097) respectively.

The affected products are classified under the following HS code subheadings: 1001.91 and 1001.99 as well as 1101.00.10, 1101.00.20, 1101.00.30 and 1101.00.90.

This import tariff applies to all countries except for the ones belonging to the Southern African Development Community.

 
Update
On 20 September 2019, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) has adopted Notice 1219 decreasing the import tariff on beet and cane sugar (please, see related state acts).
