ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On 2 October 2012, the Secretariat of Energy of Argentina has adopted Resolution 1725/2012 increasing the fixed-price of biodiesel that oil companies have to pay to biodiesel producers.
The new price has increased from ARS 4,405.3 (USD 937) to ARS 4,461 (USD 949) per tonne.
In addition to this amount, blending companies had to pay a variable cost per tonne calculated by taking into account the costs of Methanol and of soy oil, including transactions related to its purchase and its transportation.
Due to the compulsory requirement to use at least 5% of biodiesel in fuel blends locally produced imposed via Law 26,093 of 2006, this increase in the prices of biodiesel suggests that this intervention is intended as a price support to domestic biodiesel producers.
