Import-related non-tariff measure, nes
Regulation 22/2018 by the Ministry of Trade further simplifies the import process for the steel and iron products requiring an import license and an import approval from the Ministry of Trade. Compared to previous 2017 regulation (see related state acts), the importers will no longer require an additional approval from the Ministry of Industry.
The regulation came into force on 1 February 2018.
The move is part of the government's effort (cf. press release from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs) to reduce the dwelling times at ports, which are the highest in Southeast Asia.
On 20 December 2018, the Ministry issued regulation 110/2018 replacing the aforementioned regulation (see Sources). However, as the list of products was not adjusted and the amendments do not constitute a significant change, this intervention continues to be classified as implemented.
On 31 January 2020, the Ministry issued regulation 3/2020 partially adjusting the list of affected products (see related state acts).
