On 6 July 2018, the KfW IPEX-Bank announced providing EUR 786 million (USD 922.76 million) for the construction of a cruise ship purchased by the American company Carnival Corporation from the German shipbuilder Meyer Werft. The financing has a 12-year term and is backed by an export credit insurance issued by the government of Germany.
