On June 15th, 2015, a 108.193 billion yen ($876 million USD) loan agreement was signed with the Ukrainian Government and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the Boltnicz sewage treatment plant repair project. This loan will be part of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency's STEP program which implies that the loan will go towards providing Ukraine with exclusively Japanese-sourced products including a belt condenser for condensing the sludge produced in the water treatment process, a screw-press dryer for drying the sludge condensate and improved fluidized bed sludge incinerators.

Special Terms for Economic Partnership (STEP)
A stipulation in JICA ODA loan agreements is the utilization of advanced Japanese technologies and the employment of Japanese firms in overseas projects.
