Import tariff quota
On 28 June 2018, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (Camex) issued Resolution No. 43 introducing tariff-rate quotas on baby milk, ametrine, lignosulfonates, certain synthetic filament yarn and caseins (NCM 1901.10.90, 2933.69.91, 3804.00.20, 5402.46.00 and 3501.10.00).
In the case of baby milk (NCM 1901.10.90), the new import tariff has been reduced from 175% to 2%. This duty applies for a twelve months period and for 502 tonnes.
With respect to ametrine (NCM 2933.69.91), the import tariff was reduced during twelve months from 14% to 2% for a quota of 7,500 tonnes.
As for lignosulfonates (NCM 3804.00.20), the new import tariff has been reduced from 10% to 2%. This duty applies for a twelve months period and for 72,000 tonnes.
Concerning synthetic filament yarn (NCM 5402.46.00), the import duty was reduced from 18% to 2% for a quota of 97,500 tonnes for twelve months.
Finally, the import tariff on caseins (NCM 3501.10.00) was reduced for two months from 14% to 2% for a quota of 317 tonnes.
The stated products did not benefit from an import quota prior to this intervention.
In addition to the aforementioned changes, Resolution 43 also extended the applicable import tariff quota on certain photographic film rolls (please, see related state acts).
