On 1 March 2018, the Indian Ministry of Finance through Notification No. 29/2018-Customs increased the import duty on crude & refined palm of edible grade and integrated decoder receiver (set-top box). The duty on crude palm oil has been increased from 30% to 44% and on refined oil from 40% to 54%. The duty on set-top box has been increased from 10% to 20%.
Notification 29/2018 also states that the import duty on Kabuli Chana chickpeas (HS 0713.20.10) will be retained at 40%, while the import duty on all other chickpeas has been increased through Notification 28/2018 (See related State Act).
The duty on palm oil was last increased on 17 November 2017 (see related State Act).
