ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On 24 December 2010, the Mexican Secretariat of Economy issued a Decree modifying the provisions concerning the Promotion of the Manufacturing Industry, Maquiladora and of Export Services. In this sense, one of the key changes is the allowance to import several metal goods under the IMMEX regime under the condition that interested companies must be registered as certified companies.
In addition, goods enclosed in tariff line 2208.90.04 are no longer excluded from the IMMEX regime and can be imported with the tax exceptions described in the program.
The IMMEX program allows the temporary duty and VAT-free importation of goods and raw materials that are to be used in the production, transformation or reparation of foreign goods that will be exported. As a result of the new decree, the goods listed are now allowed under this regime.
The changes mentioned in this Decree entered into force 90 days after its publication on the Official Gazette.
