On 27 February 2018, the Ministry of Production of Argentina announced that the IADB had allocated USD 100 million to finance an energy efficiency program for local SMEs. The objective of the resources is to provide Argentine SMEs with credits ranging between ARS 500,000 (USD 24,775) and ARS 20 million (USD 991,000), to finance up to 80% of the purchase of energy efficient capital goods. These credit lines enjoy a beneficial interest rate and the maximum credit term is five year with a one-year grace period.

This credit line is an initiative of the Green Climate Fund, a financial mechanism established by the parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to support developing countries in their response to fight climate change.
