Export ban

On 27 March 2017, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry through Notification No 43/2015-20 permitted the exports of groundnut oil, sesame oil, soybean oil and corn oil in bulk, irrespective of any pack sizes.

The export of edible oils has been prohibited since March 2008. However, edible exports in retail pack sizes of up to 5 kgs. have been permitted since November 2013. Further, these retail pack exports were subject to a minimum export price of since February 2013. The MEP will not be applicable henceforth on edible oil exports exempted above.
