On 30 April 2014, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry through Notification No. 80(RE-2013)/2009-2014 reduced the minimum export price on exports of edible oil in branded consumer packs of up to 5 kgs. from USD 1400 per metric ton to USD 1100 per metric ton. The MEP was originally imposed in February 2013 and was later reduced in October 2013.
The export of edible oils has been prohibited since March 2008. However, oil exports in retail packs has been allowed with tariff quota restrictions (See related state acts).
The MEP has been later reduced to USD 900 per metric ton in February 2015.
