On 7 May 2018, the BNDES announced the allocation of BRL 252 million (USD 70.9 million) to the Brazilian Aché Laboratórios to finance the construction of new generic-concentrated drug factory of the company. The resources provided by the BNDES account for 77.7% of the total investment for the construction of the first phase of the factory estimated at BRL 325.8 million (circa 91.7 million).

The new pharmaceutical factory will be located in Pernambuco and it is expected to create 3000 jobs. 

This investment is in addition to 88 other previous investments made by BNDES in the pharmaceutical sector which in total account for BRL 5.1 billion (circa USD 1,435 million).
