ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On the 4th of April, 2018, China announced import tariffs of 25% on 106 tariff lines in retaliation to the introduction of tariffs by the USA. However, the announcement left the enforcement of such action to a later, unspecified date.
The items targeted include pork, soybeans, aeroplanes and chemicals. According to the official announcement, items covered by the tariffs amount to around USD 50 billion of exports.
China issued an official notification to the WTO of suspension of concessions to the USA before this act was implemented, stating that it was in response to a US tariff change announced in 2017. Please see related state acts for more information.
