Production subsidy

On the 21st of November 2016, the regional authorities in China's Heilongjiang province confirmed that the would replicate a subsidy programme initiated in neighbouring Jilin.

Maize processing firms were entitled to USD 44.25 per tonne of subsidy for corn purchased between November 2016 and April 2017.

Heilongjiang is China's top producer of corn, and the scheme was aimed at tackling issues with overproduction of the crop leading to excessive stockpiling and market distortion.
