Import tariff quota

On January 18, 2017, the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration Process (i.e COMIECO by its Spanish acronym) adopted Resolution 380-2017 eliminating the import duty on black beans (HS Codes 0713.33.10.00) for 5,000 metric tonnes. Previously, no duty-free import quota was set on this tariff line.

The applicable import tariff outside the quota is 20%.

This Resolution only applied to Guatemala and entered into force on January 18, 2017, until December 31, 2017.

Update
On November 24, 2017, Resolution 394-2017 adopted by the COMEICO renewed the applicable duty-free quota of 5,000 metric tonnes set on black beans. This legislation also extended a quota set on white corn and modified the dutyfree import quotas set on yellow corn and rice (see related state acts).
