On January 26, 2018 the Cast Iron Soil Pipe Institute filed petitions seeking the imposition of countervailing duties on certain cast iron soil pipe from China. On March 9, 2018 the U.S. International Trade Commission determined that there is a reasonable indication that a U.S. industry is materially injured by reason of these imports.
On July 6, 2018 the U.S. Department of Commerce announced the affirmative final determinations in the investigations of imports of cast iron soil pipe fittings from China. Commerce determined that China is providing countervailable subsidies to its producers of cast iron soil pipe fittings at rates ranging from 7.37 to 133.94 percent.
