ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
Hungary's investment aid to the Hungarian company MOL Petrolkémia Zrt has a total value of EUR 131 million (USD 154.64 million). The aid supports the Hungarian company's project to introduce the production of polyols and propylene glycols at its existing plant in Tiszaújváros, Hungary. The European Commission issued its decision on not to raise objects against the investment aid on 25 October 2017
In this context, the European Commission stated in a press release: "The Commission found that without the public funding, the project would not have been carried out in Tiszaújváros. The Commission also found that the aid was limited to the minimum necessary, as it merely compensated the company for costs incurred by carrying out the project in Tiszaújváros rather than an alternative location. The Commission therefore concluded that the positive effects of the project on regional development clearly outweigh any distortion of competition brought about by the State aid."
A state measure in the GTA database is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which its implementation affects the extent of discrimination against foreign commercial interests. On this metric, the state aid proposed here is discriminatory.
