Export quota

The Economic Coordinations Committee of Pakistan has through Case No. ECC-125/23/2017 dated 28 November 2017 allowed exports of an additional 1,500,000 metric tons of sugar. An export quota of 500,000 metric tons was announced earlier on 14 September 2017.

The ECC order specifies that the export quota will only be issued to mills that verify start of cane crushing by 30 November 2017 and have made timely payments of all sugarcane procurements. On allotment of a quota, the exports have to be completed within 60 days and in case of non-shipment within this period a penalty of 15% will be imposed on the miller.
