Controls on commercial transactions and investment instruments
The investment limit for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) in Central Government Securities has been increased from INR 2420 billion (USD 37.2 billion) to INR 2500 billion (USD 38.43 billion) and in State Development Loans from INR 331 billion (USD 5.1 billion) to INR 393 billion (USD 6.04 billion). Within the investments in Central Government Securities, the limit for FPIs in the General Category is increased from INR 1877 billion (USD 28.8 billion) to 1897 billion (USD 29.2 billion) while the limit for FPIs in the Long Term category has been increased from INR 543 billion (USD 8.3 billion) to INR 603 billion (USD 9.3 billion). Within the investments in State Development Loans, the limit for FPIs in the General Category is increased from INR 285 billion (USD 4.4 billion) to 300 billion (USD 4.6 billion) while the limit for FPIs in the Long Term category has been increased from INR 46 billion (USD 0.7 billion) to INR 93 billion (USD 1.43 billion).
These limits are applicable from 4 October 2017.
