Controls on commercial transactions and investment instruments
The investment limit for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) in Central Government Securities has been increased from INR 2310 billion (USD 35.6 billion) to INR 2420 billion (USD 37.3 billion) and in State Development Loans from INR 270 billion (USD 4.16 billion) to INR 331 billion (USD 5.1 billion). Within the investments in Central Government Securities, the limit for FPIs in the General Category is increased from INR 1849 billion (USD 28.5 billion) to 1877 billion (USD 28.94 billion) while the limit for FPIs in the Long Term category has been increased from INR 461 billion (USD 7.1 billion) to INR 543 billion (USD 8.37 billion). Further, the investment limit in FPIs in State Development Loans has also been segregated into General and Long Term categories with limits of INR 285 billion (USD 4.39 billion) and INR 46 billion (USD 0.7 billion) in the two categories respectively.
These limits are applicable from 4 July 2017.
