Tax-based export incentive

On April 19, 2010, the Argentine Government adopted Decree 500/2010 increasing the applicable export rebates on two products from the tariff line 4401.30.00. The two affected products were:

  • Sawdust, waste, and scrap of wood, agglomerated in logs, briquettes, pellets or similar forms, in immediate packings of net content less than or equal to 20 kg; and
  • Sawdust, waste, and scrap of wood, agglomerated in logs, briquettes, pellets or similar forms, in immediate packings of net content less than or equal to 1250 kg.

The new values have increased by 4.05% and 5% respectively.

This regime consists of the total or partial reimbursement of the internal taxes related to the production and commercialization of the exported goods. The rebates specify a percentage of the exported good's FOB value that is granted as a tax credit. The tax credit may then be used to pay internal taxes such as the VAT on inputs for the exported products.
