Export quota

On February 16, 2011, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries of Argentina adopted Resolution 62/2011, establishing a 1 million tonnes export quota on low-protein wheat. In order to qualify for this export quota, the protein content of the wheat must be below 10.5% under a humidity base of 13.5%.

Although previously, there was no export quota established on this tariff line, the prior export regime only allowed exports when there was a production surplus. The present regulation allows for the unconditional export of a million tonnes of low-protein wheat.

Update
On January 31, 2017, the Ministry of Agroindustry of Argentina issued Resolution 4E/2017 abrogating Resolution 62/2011, hence eliminating the export quota on low-protein wheat (see related state acts).
