On October 17, 2017, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council, issued Resolution 84, reducing temporarily the import duties on terephthalic acid and jute for a certain quota. The newly import tariffs have been set as it follows:

  • For terephthalic acid (NCM 3907.90.90) the import duty has been reduced from 14% to 2% for 850 tonnes for three months;
  • For jute (NCM 5303.10.10), the import duty has been reduced from 8% to 2% for 7,000 tonnes for a twelve-month period.

Previously to this resolution, there was no import tariff quota set on these tariffs lines.
