Import tariff quota

On October 3, 2017, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council, issued Resolution 79, reducing temporarily the import duties on cathodes for a quota of 1,350 tonnes. The within-quota import tariff is 2%. This duty applies for 90 days. The duty outside the quota remains unchanged at 6%.

This is the second import tariff quota set on cathodes by the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council during 2017. The previous one was set on January 23, 2017, for a six-month period (see related state acts).

Update
On December 20, 2017, the Foreign Trade Council of Brazil issued Resolution 97, extending the 2% reduced import tariff for a quota of 1,350 tonnes starting on January 4, 2018. The new import tariff quota applies for 3 months.
 
On April 24, 2018, the CAMEX issued Resolution 27 increasing the import quota and extending the duration of the measure (please, see related state acts).
