Import tariff quota

On August 11, 2017, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council issued Resolution 59 establishing a temporary 2% import duty for a certain quota on HS Codes 0802.22.00, 1604.14.20, 2921.19.23 and 3501.10.00. The import duty outside the quota is set at 6%, 16%, 853% and 14% respectively. The quota was established as it follows:

  • 5,000 tonnes for HS Code 0802.22.00 for a one-year period;
  • 3,000 tonnes for HS Code 1604.14.20 for a one-year period;
  • 26,282 tonnes HS Code 2921.19.23 for a one-year period;
  • 950 tonnes HS Code 3501.10.00 for six months.

 The stated products did not benefit from an import quota prior to this intervention.

Update
On 24 May 2018, Camex issued Resolution 35 extending for another twelve months the tariff-rate quota set on HS Code 2921.19.23, establishing a new quota of 26,282 tonnes with an import duty set at 2%.
